OptraHEALTH, a leading innovator in healthcare AI solutions, proudly announces a significant achievement with the successful completion and release of findings from the ENGAGE study. This groundbreaking research, which focuses on assessing a conversational virtual agent for tailored pre-test genetic education, represents a major stride forward in the realm of patient-centered care. (Read the publication here).

The ENGAGE study, a collaborative effort with Johns Hopkins University, employed a HealthFAX-powered conversational virtual agent to provide personalized pre-test genetic education to patients with breast or prostate cancer undergoing genetic testing as prescribed by their healthcare providers.

Dr. Gauri Naik, OptraHEALTH's CEO, expressed excitement about the study's results, noting, “The success of the ENGAGE study marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to redefining patient education. HealthFAX transcends being a mere tool; it stands as a transformative force in delivering genuinely meaningful personalized genetic education.”

Conducted in partnership with Dr. Kala Vishwanathan and her team at Johns Hopkins University, researchers played a key role in patient identification and recruitment, as well as the collaborative development of the application with OptraHEALTH. Patients efficiently utilized the HealthFAX tool, expressing high satisfaction with the genetic education it provided. The study demonstrated that engagement with the AI tool significantly increased the likelihood of successful completion.

The HealthFAX tool effectively gathered crucial family history information, identifying individuals with a strong family history of cancer who should seek further consultation at a cancer genetics clinic. Notably, the HealthFAX tool enabled patients to complete the educational component before receiving their genetic test results.

In summary, the positive outcomes of the ENGAGE study strongly advocate for the continued evaluation and exploration of this AI application. OptraHEALTH remains steadfast in its dedication to advancing patient care through innovative technologies and eagerly anticipates expanding the accessibility of genetic education to all cancer patients.
